These genuine Commonwealth of Australia $5 notes remain presentable and intact.
Australian $5 notes were issued from 1967 right up until they were replaced by polymer notes in 1992.
Some notes can be particularly valuable if they have the right serial numbers or if they're in mint condition. The rarest $5 notes can sell forup to $20,000 each.
Within Australia, the RBA has estimated that millions of five dollar notes are still in circulation.
Because $5 notes were printed across a period of around3 decades, collectors have identifieda number of differentvarieties that are needed to get for a complete set.
Australia's transition to polymer technology in the 1990s resulted in a vast increase in the number of collectors of paper decimal banknotes. That happened again between 2016 and 2020 as the Next Generation Banknote series was introduced, and yet again when the Queen passed away in September 2022.
As this broad demand base becomes more sophisticated, collectors will no doubt continue to purchase rarer and higher quality notes.
The notes that we offer here are in decent condition but are well used. An experienced collector would describe them as being in Fine to VF quality.
The paper will be slightly toned, the colours will be subdued and the edges will be completely intact. Although they have some light folding throughout the body, they remain very presentable.
The great thing about getting notes like this is they are a lot more affordable than notes that are in mint condition and cost a fraction of the price.
Because they are already slightly folded, you don't have to worry about members of the family handling them if you get them out.
They're great to use to show young folks what our money was like "back in the day".
