Bundle of 100 Australian Paper $1 Notes Circulated Condition
Front: Elizabeth II at right
Back: Indigenous dreaming artwork
Period on Issue: June 11th 1974 ~ May 11th 1984
This is a mixed bundle of 100 genuine Australian paper $1 notes.
Australian $1 notes were issued from 1966 right up until they were replaced by coins in 1984.
Some notes can be particularly valuable if they have the right serial numbers or if they're in mint condition. The rarest $1 notes can sell for up to $7,500 each.
Within Australia, the RBA has estimated that approximately 19 million one dollar notes are still in circulation.
Because $1 notes were printed across a period of around 3 decades, collectors have identified a number of different varieties that are needed to get for a complete set.
Australias transition to polymer technology in the 1990s resulted in a vast increase in the number of collectors of paper decimal banknotes. That happened again between 2016 and 2020 as the Next Generation Banknote series was introduced, and yet again when the Queen passed away in September 2022.
As this broad demand base becomes more sophisticated, collectors will no doubt continue to purchase rarer and higher quality notes.
The notes that we offer here have seen a lot of usage, and are far from mint condition.
The great thing about getting a bundle like this is they are a lot more affordable than notes that are in mint condition, and cost a fraction of the price.
Because they are already folded, you don't have to worry about members of the family handling them if you get them out.
They're great to use to show young folks what our money was like "back in the day".
