Australian Private (Pre Federation) Banknote Pedigrees Book By Mick Vort-Ronald
This is the definitive guide to market activity in Australian banknotes issued before 1910.
Anyone active in the market for Australia's pre-federation banknotes will appreciate the difficulty in keeping up with the market for these rare and often seldom-seen banknotes.
Past sales data on any note can assist a collector with determining provenance, calculating relative value and quantifying rarity.
Due to the reasonably diverse outlets that these notes are made available through (there are at least six different auctioneers that handle these items at any one period), and the extended period of time that can pass between market sightings for any one pre-federation banknote, maintaining up-to-date records can be challenging to say the least.
Mick Vort-Ronald's latest book removes the need to do a lot of the spadework ordinarily required to get up to date with this segment of the market however - it lists many publicly-sighted transactions for all Australian pre-federation banknotes over the past 40 years.
While it cannot (and does not) claim to be a completely comprehensive guide to market activity over the past four decades, it is probably as good as any one individual could hope to compile.
Any active collector of pre-federation notes would surely find that an investment in this book will pay for itself many, many times over.
