Australia 2001 20 Coin Mint Set Centenary Of Federation
Obverse: Elizabeth II to right, legend around
Reverse: Commemorative coin designs
Mintage: 20,000
This was the most popular product in Australia's biggest commemorative coin program.
Demand for memorabilia was in a boom period leading up to the and during the Centenary of Federation, coins sets were particularly popular as they were officially produced by the Australian government.
All in all there were:
- 10 different commemorative fifty-cent coins;
- 9 different commemorative twenty cent coins; and
- 1 commemorative one-dollar coin issued in the Centenary of Federation commemorative coin series.
This was easily the biggest stimulus the Royal Australian Mint has given to Australian numismatics since the introduction of decimal currency.
This particular set included not only the Centenary of Federation 50 cent and $1 coins but also one of each of the commemorative 20 cent coins issued for each state and territory in Australia.
Only 13,000 of these sets were produced, and they easily sold out before the end of 2001.
With prices for the individual Uncirculated coins making ever-higher prices, this product is looking better value all the time.
All of the coins are included, the coins and album remain in excellent condition.
