Rev: Livia (as Pax) seated right, holding sceptre and olive branch, feet on footstool; ornate chair legs, a single line below.

Referred to in a well-known passage in the Bible.

Very rarely do mere mortals have the opportunity to hold in their hand a physical object referred to in the Bible - the Holy Grail; the Ark of the Covenant and the Shroud of Turin are all objects that have held men spellbound through the ages.
As the subject of Luke’s Psalm 20-20, the “Tribute Penny” can be included among these objects of eternal fascination.
Several of his enemies posed Jesus Christ a question - how could they pay taxes to Rome if they were totally devoted to God?
Many believe his answer, spoken while holding a Roman denarius, teaches the difference between material riches and the eternal nature of spiritual wealth.
The “PONTIF MAXIM” denarius of Tiberius is widely held to be the subject of Christ’s muse.
This particular coin is well centred, and has some light wear either side - it is a pleasing example of this historic coin.
