This silver proof coin marks 130 years since the opening of the Melbourne Mint.
The RAM came up with an innovative idea in 1996 - they would release a coin to mark 30 years of decimal currency, but would restrict the mintage to only the sum total number of coins ordered by collectors and dealers by the designated cutoff date.
This idea hadn't been tried before, the coins each contained one ounce of pure silver them and they wouldn't be available after the cutoff date - some collectors took the punt while others didn't.
Needless to say the series proved popular with the Australian collector community, and it has stayed a part of the RAM's production calendar ever since then.
The design for 2002 shows the front gates of the Melbourne Mint buildings, as well as the reverses of the first two sovereigns struck in 1872.
The coin, case, outer shipper, and certificate are all included and remain in excellent condition.
