2001 5 Dollar Uncut Sheet of 40 Notes Federation
Front: Catherine Spence at centre
Back: Sir Henry Parkes at centre
Sheet measures 5 notes across by 8 notes down (270mm * 230mm)
Mintage: 356
This was the most exclusive collectible 5 dollar released in 2001.
The celebrations marking Australia's Centenary of Federation were on a scale not seen since the Bicentennial celebrations of 1988.
Due to the official nature of the event, the most keenly sought mementoes of the day were those produced by the Australian government, and our coins & notes were the most accessible of these.
The commemorative $5 note issued by Note Printing Australia was kept for novelty value by many Australians, very few members of the general public would have been able to find (let alone keep) notes featuring the AA01 first prefix. Just 356 people subscribed to the NPA ballot for these uncut sheets, so the mintage was much lower than expected.
This particular sheet remains in impeccable condition.
