1999 100 Dollars Uncut Block of Four Premium Red Serials

Mintage: 200
This was among the very last uncut polymer notes printed.
When polymer technology was introduced to Australia's circulating currency between 1988 and 1996, worldwide demand for Australian notes sky-rocketed. Note Printing Australia (NPA) introduced a range of collector products including a series of uncut sheets, half sheets, blocks and pairs in various configurations.
The market for these uncut notes ran very hot in the early to mid-1990s, but by the late 1990s had petered out. Although collectors were quite keen to build a complete set of all of the uncut products that were issued, the pony-tailed marketing executives at NPA saw fit to change the configuration of uncut products seemingly every year, slowly driving collectors mad and eventually killing the market.
As a result of this approach, mintage figures are extremely low when compared to the equivalent coin sets in the years they were issued.
Think of how rare these folders are relative to say a proof set from the same year, compare the prices and you can see why certain collectors are adamant that these folders are excellent value for money!
If you're brave enough to navigate the maze of different products, you can build yourself an excellent collection of really rare folders for not a lot of money.
There were two different basic types of products issued - deluxe and premium. Deluxe notes featured serials that were the same colour as the notes had when issued for circulation, while premium notes had red serials. Some collectors prefer the deluxe notes because they tie in better with their collections of circulation notes, while other collectors prefer the premium notes because they are rarer and feature lower serial numbers.
The MacFarlane / Evans polymer $100 uncut note products were released to Australian collectors in March of 2000.
Just 200 of these uncut blocks with red serials were released.
