This is a crisp example of one of Australia's first $100 notes, ex RBA archives.
When decimal currency was first introduced to Australia in 1966, the last 1,000 of the old pre-decimal notes (10/-; £1; £5; £10), as well as the first 1,000 of each of the new decimal notes that replaced them ($1; $2; $10 and $20) were set aside by the Reserve Bank for archival purposes. These notes sat untouched in the Reserve Bank's archives for 25 years, however in 1991, Note Printing Australia offered them to collectors as part of "The 25th Anniversary Banknote Portfolio".
This note has been taken from one of these portfolios - it has a serial number that you simply would not be able to obtain from circulation, and remains in natural and crisp condition. It does have a few teller flicks in the top right hand corner - testament to being counted at stock take time in the Reserve Bank.
