This note has excellent paper, with some light folding through the body.
When decimal currency was first introduced to Australia in 1966, huge quantities of coins & paper notes were produced to ensure that activity in the Australian economy didn't skip a beat following the change to dollars and cents.
There were huge quantities of notes printed with the Coombs / Wilson signature combination, yet due to the adequate quantities produced originally and the durability of the paper used in the notes, only limited quantities of notes were printed in the years 1967 and 1968.
By coincidence, these are the same years that the Coombs Randall signature was seen on Australia's banknotes. As a general rule, Coombs Randall notes are the rarest and most keenly sought of all Australian paper decimal notes.
The Coombs Randall $20 note is the rarest standard decimal note (that is, not including first or last prefixes & stars) printed in Australia - that includes nearly all the polymer notes too.
These $20 notes were issued for just one month in 1968 - only 2.2 million were printed. Keep in mind that there were some 147 million $20 notes with "Commonwealth of Australia" on them printed in total, while only 2.2 million of them had the Coombs Randall signature combination.
This particular note remains in crisp and natural condition, and has a modest amount of light folding evident through the body.
