A superb example of Australia's rarest $1 note.
When decimal currency was first introduced to Australia in 1966, huge quantities of coins & paper notes were produced to ensure that activity in the Australian economy didn't skip a beat following the change to dollars and cents.
There were huge quantities of notes printed with the Coombs / Wilson signature combination, due to the adequate quantities produced originally and the durability of the paper used in the notes, only limited quantities of notes were required to be printed in the years 1967 and 1968.
By coincidence, these are the same years that the Coombs and Randall signatures were seen on Australia's banknotes. As a general rule they are the rarest and most keenly sought of all Australian decimal notes.
This particular note has completely original and crisp paper - both sides exhibit a full sheen, and the black intaglio ink is raised to boot.
It is a superb example of Australia's rarest $1 note.
