1930 Penny PCGS Genuine (VF Details)
Obverse: Coronate bust of George V to right, legend around
Reverse: Denomination within legend, date below
This coin is as rough as they come, however it has been Independently authenticated as a genuine example.
1930 pennies are pretty much as hard to come by in poor condition as they are in superior condition - the vast majority of those coins that still exist grade between Fine and good Fine, and in the current market, sell for anwyhere between $15,000 and $25,000 (with the exact value dependent on the quality the coin is in).
This particular coin really is as rough as they come - it hasn't suffered any post-minting damage per se, however there's no doubt it has been heat-affected at some stage. Check our images and you'll see that there's a bit of black crust either side, and the surfaces have a truly crazed appearance.
Which is a real shame, as the coin shows plenty of detail - most of the centre diamond is still visible.
My research into the value of 1930 pennies shows me that the last time a 1930 penny sold for less than $10,000 was way back in March 2015 - that coin had some decent edge bumps and was bent!
This coin doesn't have great surfaces obviously, however apart from that it is a pretty decent example!
If you've been looking to add this Australian rarity to your coin collection and want to addd it to your collection for as low a cost as possible, this is the coin for you.
