This note has circulated lightly, but retains strong paper and straight edges.
The Riddle Heathershaw signature combination is the most affordable in the "Harrison" series of pre-decimal notes. It is invariably the "got-to" signature combination for collectors keen on building a type set of Australian pre-decimal notes in superior grade.
One pound notes with these signatures were circulating throughout the Australian economy in the last "boom" years of the late 1920's, as well as at the very moment that Australia came off the gold standard, on December 17th, 1929.
Records held by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) show that the Commonwealth Basic Wage in 1929 was £4 10 shillings 6 pence, which shows just how much purchasing power a single one pound note had at that time.
