An incredibly tough coin to come by in this quality.
I've helped several collectors build date sets of Young Head sovereigns over the years - for many of them, the 1883 Sydney was among the last Sydney Mint dates they needed to get. Back in the day when only "raw" coins were traded, we'd see an Uncirculated 1883 Sydney Young Head once every other year, or once a year at the least.
Despite this, the value of this coin is a dang sight less than it was just a few years ago - I know I've sold a number of coins comparable to this one within the past 15 years at prices far higher than our current ask.
Recent auction results in and out of Australia however show that they just aren't commanding as much as they used to.
Vendors will be crushed at the injustice of the current market I know, however anyone with long term confidence in the Australian sovereign market has an opportunity to acquire some great coins at prices we haven't seen since the early 2000's at least - I don't know of any other timeless asset that the same can be said of right now.
